Paper, date, mark, time and what lost marks. Twenty pages to fill in.

SessionedRevision
Page one of the A-level Past-Paper Log: fields for the paper, date, mark and time, five circled categories for what lost marks, and space for a fix.

The first tile is page one of the free sample, the real page from the free download — the full log is twenty pages. The A5 and dark tiles are illustrations, not photographs of the files. Supplied as: A4 edition, A5 edition, dark edition for a tablet.

Files: Three PDFs — two A4 and one A5.

  • A summary page that totals the five categories and ranks them
  • A key explaining each category, with worked examples written for A-level
  • A how-to-use page, and a page on why categories read better than raw marks
  • Form fields over the write-on boxes and lines, in all three editions: A4, A5 and dark
  • Print as many copies as you need for your own use

Look inside

Not how well it went, what went wrong

Raw marks move with paper difficulty and with which series you picked. Categories ask a different question, and a repeated category is a habit or a topic rather than bad luck.

Questions

What do I need to open it?

Any PDF reader, including the ones built into browsers, phones and tablets.

Can I print it?

Yes. Print as many copies as you need for your own use. Please do not share or resell the file.

Does it include any past papers?

No. It is somewhere to record your own results. Our free past-paper and spec finder links straight to the exam board's own page for the papers themselves.

Why five categories rather than a mark out of ten?

Because a mark tells you how it went and a category tells you what to change. Totals only mean something if the five stay fixed, so they never change between pages or levels.

Which level should I pick?

Pick the one you are studying. Pages work the same way at every level; what changes is the worked examples in the key.

Can I fill it in on a screen?

Yes, and it still prints. Form fields sit over the write-on boxes and lines in the A4, A5 and dark editions, so in most PDF readers you can tap one and type instead of writing. Circling a category is still a mark you make yourself, with a pen on paper or a stylus on screen, and a printed page written on by hand works exactly as it always did.

Where this fits

Everything for this level sits together on the A-level revision page, alongside the planner it is built to work with.

Planning the weeks is a different job from working through them, and it is free: the past-paper finder links straight to the official papers on each board’s own site.
