Standards and expectations for all Sessioned tutors. Following these helps you get better reviews, more students, and higher earnings.
Come prepared for every session. Review the student's goals and any materials they've shared beforehand. Have a clear plan for the session and be ready to adapt based on the student's needs. End each session with a summary of what was covered and suggested next steps.
Be on time for every session. If you need to cancel, give at least 24 hours notice through the platform. Repeated late cancellations or no-shows may result in account suspension. Students rely on you — consistency builds trust and repeat bookings.
Respond to student messages within 24 hours. Use the Sessioned messaging system for all communication — this protects both you and the student. Be friendly, professional, and encouraging. Never share personal contact details or arrange payments outside the platform.
If you tutor anyone under 18, we strongly recommend holding a valid DBS check. Tutors with a verified DBS receive a trust badge on their profile. All sessions should be conducted professionally. If you have any safeguarding concerns about a student, contact our support team immediately.
Set your own hourly rate — there are no caps or minimums. Sessioned charges students a 20% service fee on top of your rate. You receive your full fee, deposited weekly via Stripe. Never request payment from students outside the platform — this violates our terms and removes your payment protection.
After each session, students can leave a review and rating. Higher-rated tutors appear more prominently in search results and attract more bookings. Focus on delivering great sessions, and the reviews will follow. You can respond to reviews publicly from your dashboard.
Do not complete assignments, coursework, or exams on behalf of students. Do not share personal contact information or social media accounts. Do not arrange sessions or payments outside Sessioned. Violations of these policies may result in permanent account removal.

Sessioned is an online marketplace connecting students with verified tutors across a wide range of subjects. Students search, message, and book tutors directly. Tutors set their own rates, manage their own schedules, and get paid weekly via Stripe. We handle the platform, payments, scheduling, and support — so both sides can focus on what matters: learning.
Unlike other platforms, we give tutors full control over their pricing and schedule. We don't cap rates, dictate availability, or lock tutors into long contracts. For students, our transparent pricing means you always know what you're paying — the tutor's rate plus a small Sessioned service fee. No hidden charges, no subscriptions, no surprises.

Sessioned is an online marketplace that connects students with independent tutors for 1-on-1 online tutoring sessions. Sessioned does not itself provide tutoring services — we provide the platform, payment processing, scheduling tools, and support infrastructure that enables tutors and students to connect.
You must be at least 18 years old to create a tutor account. Students under 18 may use Sessioned with parental or guardian consent. By creating an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and complete.
Tutors are independent contractors, not employees of Sessioned. Tutors set their own rates, schedules, and teaching methods. Sessioned reviews tutor applications but does not guarantee the quality of any tutor's services. Tutors are responsible for the accuracy of their qualifications and profile information.
When a student books a session, they agree to pay the tutor's fee plus a 20% Sessioned service fee. Sessions are conducted online via the video link provided. Students may cancel or reschedule with at least 24 hours notice for a full refund. Late cancellations (under 24 hours) may be subject to the full session fee.
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. Students pay the full amount at the time of booking. Sessioned charges students a 20% service fee on top of the tutor's rate. Tutors receive their full fee via weekly Stripe payouts. All payments must be made through the Sessioned platform — arranging payments outside the platform is a violation of these terms.
If a tutor fails to attend a confirmed session, the student will receive a full refund. If a student is dissatisfied with a session, they may contact support within 48 hours to request a review. Refund decisions are made at Sessioned's discretion on a case-by-case basis.
Users must not: share personal contact details to circumvent the platform; complete academic work on behalf of students; harass, discriminate against, or behave inappropriately towards other users; create fake accounts or provide false information; use the platform for any illegal purpose.
No circumvention — keep it on Sessioned. Where Sessioned introduces a tutor and a student (or their parent or guardian), all tutoring, communication, scheduling and payment relating to that introduction must take place through the Sessioned platform. You must not arrange, solicit, accept or continue tutoring that arises from a Sessioned introduction outside the platform — whether directly or through a third party — in order to avoid Sessioned's service fees, for the duration of the relationship and for 12 months after your most recent session or contact through Sessioned. Attempting to take a Sessioned-introduced relationship off-platform to bypass fees (for example by sharing private contact details, arranging private payment, or moving sessions elsewhere) is a serious breach of these terms and may result in immediate suspension or removal of your account, forfeiture of any pending payouts, and recovery of the fees avoided. If you are approached to move off-platform, please tell us at hello@sessioned.co.uk.
Sessioned reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these terms. Users may delete their account at any time by contacting support. Outstanding payments owed to tutors will be processed before account closure.
Sessioned acts as an intermediary between students and tutors. We are not liable for the quality, accuracy, or outcome of any tutoring session. Our liability is limited to the fees paid to Sessioned for the specific booking in question.
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Sessioned owns the platform and all of its software, branding, logos, and content, except for content provided by users. You may not copy, resell, or reuse them without our permission. When you upload content to Sessioned — such as a profile photo, biography, qualifications, or a review — you keep ownership of it but grant Sessioned a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and use it for the purpose of operating and promoting the platform. If you believe content on Sessioned infringes your intellectual property, contact us at hello@sessioned.co.uk and we will review it and, where appropriate, remove it.
These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or your use of Sessioned, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You and Sessioned Ltd agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, this does not affect any rights you have under the mandatory consumer-protection laws of the country where you live. Before starting any formal proceedings, please contact us at hello@sessioned.co.uk so we can try to resolve the matter informally first.

This policy explains how Sessioned Ltd ("Sessioned", "we", "us") collects and uses your personal data. Sessioned Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described here. Account information: When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and password. Tutors also provide qualifications, subjects, and profile photos.
Payment information: Payment card details are collected and processed securely by Stripe. Sessioned does not store your full card number or bank details.
Usage information: We collect data about how you use the platform, including pages visited, searches made, sessions booked, and messages sent.
We use your information to: provide and improve the Sessioned platform; process bookings and payments; match students with relevant tutors; send booking confirmations and reminders; respond to support requests; prevent fraud and ensure platform safety.
Our lawful bases (UK GDPR Article 6): performance of our contract with you (creating your account, processing bookings and running sessions); our legitimate interests (operating, securing, improving and promoting the platform, and preventing fraud); your consent (for non-essential cookies and any optional marketing — which you can withdraw at any time); and compliance with a legal obligation (for example, keeping financial records). Where we process a child's data, we rely on the consent of their parent or guardian.
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information with: Stripe (for payment processing); tutors (your name and session details when you book); service providers who help us operate the platform (e.g. email delivery, hosting). Tutor profiles, including name, photo, qualifications, and reviews, are publicly visible on the platform.
International transfers: some providers (for example Stripe for payments, and our email and hosting providers) may process data on servers outside the UK, including in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as the UK's adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement / Standard Contractual Clauses — to keep your data protected.
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure password storage, and regular security reviews. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified.
If you are in the UK or EEA, you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; object to or restrict processing; receive your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@sessioned.co.uk.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113 — though we'd appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
Sessioned is used by children and young people under 18, and protecting their data is something we take particularly seriously. Under UK GDPR, children's personal data is given special protection, and the following applies.
Accounts for under-18s must be created and managed by a parent or guardian. When you sign up on behalf of a child, you do so as their parent or guardian and you provide consent for us to process their data for the purpose of arranging and delivering tutoring sessions.
For a child using Sessioned, we may process: the child's first name, year group or academic level, the subjects they are studying, their bookings and session history, messages they exchange with tutors through the platform, and any session notes a tutor records. We collect only what we need to connect the child with a tutor and run their sessions. We do not use children's data for advertising or profiling, and we never sell it.
A child's session activity takes place on the Sessioned platform, with messaging kept on-platform so that parents and guardians retain visibility of communication between their child and a tutor.
As the parent or guardian, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about your child, ask us to correct it, request its deletion, or withdraw your consent at any time. To do any of these, contact us at hello@sessioned.co.uk and we will respond promptly.
If you believe a child's data has been provided to us without appropriate parental consent, please contact hello@sessioned.co.uk and we will remove it.
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We may also use analytics cookies to understand how the platform is used. You can manage cookie preferences in your browser settings.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it (e.g. financial records for tax purposes).

Sessioned is operated from the United Kingdom and is intended for users in the UK. If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request access to or deletion of that information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA), and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Sessioned connects students with independent tutors for online tutoring. Many of our students are children and young people, and their safety is central to how we run the platform. This policy explains how we approach safeguarding — for the reassurance of parents and guardians, and as a clear standard for our tutors.
Every tutor application is individually reviewed before the tutor can appear on Sessioned. We check the information and qualifications a tutor provides. Tutors who work with under-18s are expected to hold a valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check; where a tutor provides a valid DBS certificate number, we verify it and display a verified-DBS badge on their profile so parents can see it at a glance.
Tutoring takes place through Sessioned's built-in video classroom, and messaging between students and tutors is kept on the platform. This means a parent or guardian managing a child's account retains visibility of the communication around their child's learning. We ask tutors never to move contact or payment off the platform, and never to share personal contact details with students — both to protect students and to preserve our safeguarding oversight.
Tutors are expected to conduct every session professionally and appropriately, to maintain suitable boundaries with students at all times, and to treat every student with respect. Tutors must never request a student's banking or personal financial details, and must never ask a student to communicate or pay outside Sessioned. Any tutor who breaches these standards may have their account suspended or removed.
If you have any safeguarding concern about a tutor, a session, or anything you have seen on Sessioned, please contact us immediately at hello@sessioned.co.uk. We treat safeguarding reports as a priority, will respond promptly, and where a concern is serious we will escalate it to the appropriate authorities. If a child is in immediate danger, always contact the emergency services on 999 first.
We review our safeguarding approach periodically and as the platform grows, and will update this policy to reflect changes in our practice or in our legal obligations.
